IMERT Responders

Just a note about Joplin Missouri. Many of you have inquired if our assistance will be needed.  We have been in contact with colleagues in the area since immediately after the storm. As you can imagine the enormity of the destruction is still sinking in. At this point it is unlikely that our assistance will be needed. While rescue operations continue and multiple shelters have been established, the overall health care infrastructure remains intact.  Missouri has a robust healthcare community and will absorb this shock pretty well. Additionally, there is assistance available from the neighboring states of Oklahoma, Kansas and other FEMA Region 7 resources.  We have made it clear that we are willing and able to assist if needed.

Like every disaster situation it is crucial that all of us adhere to the established protocols for resource sharing. If the situation changes we will be sure to let you know very quickly. In the meantime, the very best thing you can do is to keep our neighbors in Missouri in your thoughts as they endure this enormous tragedy.

Thank you for your concern and willingness to help. Mary
